My Friend The Immigrant is an alternative-indie band based in Wiesbaden, Germany. The band was founded in 2010 by the four Stöbener brothers and the "Immigrant" Rinat Rashapov who now resides in Ottawa, Canada and frequently joins the band on live performances and recording sessions. The band has toured in Germany and has played at various festivals alongside performers such as James Blake, Flume, and Explosions in the Sky. The band spent the rest of 2016 to record their studio album and produced a music video to “Wooden Heartbeat”. Their debut album “About Life, Death and Trees.” was released in 2017 and was featured on several radio and television shows in Germany. The band’s sound is described by listeners as “absolutely distinctive alternative indie sound that goes far beyond this simple genre branding”.
